Haven’t seen a live screening of The Lake at the Bottom of the World yet? Then come to Oakland, to the Chabot Space and Science Center Saturday December 17th at 1pm! Q&A afterwards with some of the film + science team. We can’t wait!
On this hot August day, let’s dream of ice. This is from 69° N, on the Greenland Ice Sheet, crisscrossed with crevasse traces and ice streams. For scale, if you look carefully at the tiny dots at the bottom you’ll see a person and the orange drone launch pad.
It could be said that moulins haunt the dreams of even the most seasoned glaciologists. These holes in the ice sheet can drop anywhere from 40 meters down to straight to the bottom of a glacier. This one was found on the Greenland Ice Sheet, stretching about 5 meters in diameter, and falling down some undetermined dark depth. #Greenland #greenlandicesheet
This is our campsite next week! We’re with SALSA team member Martyn Tranter in Greenland studying ice algae!
We are in Greenland, filming with some of our @salsaantarctica team! And it’s gorgeous here. Going to the field soon! Stay tuned!
Here’s a clip of our trailer for The Lake at the Bottom of the World to cool off all our northern hemisphere followers. Antarctica in the month of June is a chilly, dark place, but this was filmed in the Antarctic summer. Check out our full trailer on our website in the bio!
"The Lake at the Bottom of the World" is a finalist in the largest science film festival in the southern hemisphere, SCINEMA 2022! More info on the film fest here: https://scinema.org.au/
This has to be the most adorable trophy we’ve ever seen. It deserves an award for best award! Thank you @easternsierramountainff, on behalf of all the scientists of @salsaantarctica and the Lake at the Bottom of the World film crew.
We are thrilled to announce that "The Lake at the Bottom of the World" has won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at the Eastern Sierra Mountain Film Fest this past weekend! Congrats to all who made this film possible! https://www.easternsierraarts.org/easternsierramountainfilmfest
